Anchor – Podcasting Made Easy For Your School
Attention Striv Schools, do you feel like there’s a missing piece in the social media world when it comes to sharing your school’s story? There’s a platform for photos (Instagram and Snapchat) and a feed for text (Twitter), but what about voice? Anchor, a new app developed in 2015, is changing the way we create and share audio, allowing you to record or capture any audio, right from your phone.
Here’s the rundown:
Anchor’s mobile app users can find and listen to episodes of interest, anything from scientists and comedians to politicians and athletes. Whatever your interest, there is probably an Anchor station for it. After listening to what others have to say, you can post a response. Simply hold the phone up to your ear and click record with the Anchor app. The Audio can be published directly into their episode, where others can hear and respond. In a way, it’s like a collaborative podcast.
While Anchor allows you to listen and be connected to hundreds of people creating podcasts and sharing thoughts, you have the power to create and share own content, broadcast your audio in seconds, and create your own podcast or station. Want to record a phone call? Call any US-based number from the app, record the conversation and add it to your station. You can then add-in different sound effects and music to make your audio jazzy, while also having the feature of trimming and editing current and pre-existing audio. Pretty cool, right? Your audio is now sharable and available for anyone to hear. Last, but not least, you can listen anywhere: phones, Ipads and Android devices. Smart speakers like Amazon Alexa and Google Home, or connect Anchor to your car with Bluetooth.
Eric Allgood of Striv said, “I love anchor for the simplicity of use. Open the app, hit record, go. A lot like Snapchat in that way. It also has the ability to record a phone call to be played back, which is a service you usually have to pay for on an iPhone, and, if I wanted to pre-produce something, and then upload to Anchor, I can do that.”
It’s no lie that Anchor is a hot app on the social media market, and we can’t help but rave about the simplicity of sharing your voice. We want your students to share their story and become digital leaders. Anchor is allowing audio to be produced and shared with a click of a button! Teachers, Anchor is a must-have app for your classroom and we encourage you to get your students connected! Here are a few thoughts on how Anchor can be used in your classroom:
Create a channel for your school or classroom and get the students rolling with producing content. Your students can interview coaches, report on the scoring for a game and get the “here and now” thoughts from multiple students as the game is playing. Use Anchor to inform about school activities, remind about project deadlines, or share a simple word of motivation or encouragement.
Anchor is an app that allows students to easily produce content and gain experience by creating, sharing and listening to Audio. We hope Anchor will help your students become more connected, cultivating ideas, and inspiring them to share their story. Be on the outlook for more ideas on how Anchor can be used in your classroom.
