Sign Up For UNL’s Summer Journalism Workshop
For a third summer, Taylor, Ben and Sara will lead the Video Track at NHSPA’s Summer Journalism Workshop at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, where students gather for three days to immerse in journalism culture with 50+ other high school students around the state.
As you know, video storytelling is Striv’s jam, and we have a passion to be a guide for high school content creators who want to learn the ropes of storytelling, too.
At camp, students will work hands-on with equipment, and have the freedom to explore different types of video; vlogging, 2-camera setup, highlight, and interview set up, and will edit and produce a final video before leaving camp. They will have access to UNL’s pristine facilities and opportunity to spend LOTS of hours with the Striv team – WOOHOO.
“The NHSPA Journalism camp has been extremely rewarding for me and our Striv team to work with students and teach them how to use video to tell stories.” -Taylor Siebert
Last years students, Nate Thomas and Jake Janousek of Millard West, DM’d Husker Football Player Tre Bryant on Twitter during camp for an interview and created this video. Just one example of the many possibilities at NHSPA Journalism camp:

“The thing I liked most about being in the Video track was being able to go out and create our own projects. We still had some valuable instruction time, but the best part was getting experience creating some videos with the guidance with the best people in the area for it!” – Nate Thomas.
Not interested in the Video Track? Consider the other great tracks of journalism available at NSPA’s Workshop:
“The workshop will take place from Monday morning through Wednesday afternoon, and students will not only get a chance to get to know other student journalists from across the state, but they also will be educated by the highest quality professionals that the journalism education world has to offer. Each of the following camp speakers are multi-year camp veterans.”
